How Your Workspace Impacts Your Clients’ Perception of Your Law Firm

One of the most important aspects of landing a client is how that client perceives you. A lot of factors contribute to this perception, not the least of which is your workspace. Advances in technology and the ability to video conference almost anywhere have led many lawyers to consider working from home, however having a professional workspace that caters to this tech-driven, mobile workforce can ultimately be a deciding factor in whether or not a client chooses you.

Client Perception

For the most part, prospective clients do not have the opportunity to see you at work before they hire you. No matter how great of job a lawyer does for their current clients they are going to need to be able to impress future clients primarily outside of the courtroom. People want to hire lawyers they can trust and whose abilities they respect. Unfortunately, their level of respect for your abilities is oftentimes erroneously rooted in the perceptions they develop upon meeting with you rather than your record.

Messy or unprofessional offices or meeting rooms give the impression that a lawyer lacks professionalism and perhaps does not take their work very seriously. First impressions count, and having a an official-looking, modernized, high-tech workspace is the best way to get clients to trust and respect you right off the bat.

Choosing a Workspace

Location matters, and offices located in bad areas or in unattractive buildings are simply not as inviting and could lead to a loss in business. Similarly, working from home can be a tempting idea both for comfort and cost-cutting measures, but a client meeting a lawyer for the first time in his or her home is likely to think less of them as a professional. Finding a location that impresses clients is essential and can also make the workday a lot easier. Fortunately for those looking to save money and not be stuck in a long-term lease, there are also excellent and affordable options for getting office space in a shared building.

Advantages of Renting Office Space

Simply having an office space gives a professional feel that is tangible not only to you but also to your clients. Knowing you are in a professional, dedicated workspace changes your mindset and helps present a more respectable demeanor, which clients can perceive. A law firm with a fully furnished office space with the latest technology in an excellent location simply appears more successful and gives clients the feeling that their matters will be handled by experienced and knowledgeable lawyers who know how to get the job done.

Office space is cheaper now than ever before and law firms can move into offices that are fully stocked with gorgeous furnishings, state of the art technology, and high speed internet without spending a lot of money upfront. Spaces are even available part time and can be used only for meetings and certain days of the week at minimal costs. Call Yes! Workspaces to see how we can meet your firm’s needs.

How Can a Collaborative Workspace Benefit Your Legal Practice?

In recent years, collaborative workspaces have skyrocketed in popularity amongst young entrepreneurs and other professionals seeking productive, cost-efficient spaces from which to conduct their business. In a collaborative environment your personal workspace is part of an inter-connected setting shared with other professionals in various fields, allowing you to operate in your own personal space when you need and interact with others when you want.

If you are an attorney, and especially if you are a newly solo attorney, it is time you considered working in a collaborative workspace. There are numerous benefits to these collaborative spaces for legal professionals, five of which we have outlined below:

New ideas and perspectives

Perhaps the single most important benefit to working in a collaborative workspace is having access to a wide array of perspectives, which can result in new ideas and viewpoints that you otherwise would not have achieved. We are all shaped by our experiences in life, and everyone’s journey is unique. Having access to the thoughts and ideas of professionals with different experiences and perspectives—both in the legal profession and outside of it—will be invaluable for the quality of your work. It’s like having your very own brain trust, and as they say, two heads is better than one!

Challenge you

As an attorney, it is essential that you utilize unbiased parties to challenge your premises and poke holes in your case. After all, opposing attorneys and judges will most certainly look for any holes or flaws in your arguments. By working in a collaborative workspace, you can utilize your neighbors to essentially conduct market testing on your legal arguments and look for any potential weaknesses in your case. Those with no attachment to your case will always be able to find the issues that you otherwise would not have seen yourself, allowing you the develop the airtight arguments you need to succeed.

As a solo or small legal practice, the importance of strong networking cannot be overstated. Much of your work will likely come through referrals, and the best way to obtain referrals is through having a strong network of other professionals who trust you enough to send clients your way. By working in a collaborative workspace with attorneys and other professionals every day, you can’t help but build relationships that will be incredibly fruitful for your business.

Having a physical office is vital for just about any attorney. Even if you are someone who can get work done wherever you are, you should still have a professional, well-equipped location available where you can bring clients and conduct meetings. Having your own office space is essential for demonstrating credibility. However, operating your own office can get expensive very quickly, especially if you are the only one footing the bill and trying to outfit your office with the latest and most up-to-date technology. In a collaborative workspace, the cost burden is distributed amongst numerous professionals. You will still have the private space you need, but it will be far more cost-efficient.

Perhaps you are one of those people who works better on your own. Maybe you’re a bit of a recluse who works more efficiently in isolation. Most of us, however, can benefit greatly from interacting with other people on a day-to-day basis. Human interaction can quite literally provide you with more energy which will help you maintain your productivity throughout the day, whereas working in isolation on a day-to-day basis can drain you of your motivation and open the door to procrastination and inefficiency.

6 Key Benefits to Leveraging a Virtual Law Office

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple decades, we live in an increasingly digital society. The Internet has transformed the world, from the way we socialize to consumerism, and it is essential that you adapt your legal practice to the changing times.

An increasingly popular option is leveraging a virtual law office. Most attorneys already use digital technology in some manner in operating their practice, but leveraging a virtual office means making the leap to a fully-connected, cloud-based practice. It does NOT mean giving up on any sort of physical office space or face-to-face interactions, but it does mean placing an emphasis on both digital efficiency and cost efficiency.

Below we have outlined six of the most important benefits provided by leveraging a virtual law office:

1) Credibility

In the age of The Internet, having a digital presence is not only helpful, it is expected. You could be fantastic at what you do, but if you cannot be reached online, you will likely not be seen as credible by potential clients. By leveraging a virtual office, you cannot help but have a strong digital presence. You will inherently leverage technology in a manner that demonstrates to the modern consumer that you are reliable and not stuck in the past. And speaking of leveraging technology…

2) Technology

By operating a virtual law office you will be in a position to make good use of numerous productivity-enhancing technologies. Cloud computing technology in particular—such as Google Drive—allows you to cast off the shackles that tie you to a single location, to reach more people, and to be more productive and efficient.

3) Finances

Perhaps the single most important reason to leverage a virtual law office is the financial benefits. We’ve already explained how the use of technology will help make you more efficient, and as most people know, efficiency usually translates to more profit. Additionally, a virtual office allows you to effectively cut out the day-to-day costs of operating a brick and mortar office. You will minimize both minor expenses, like office supplies, and major expenses, like employing full-time support staff and paying rent. But don’t worry, you won’t have to take on the role of a receptionist for your own practice if you choose to go virtual—Yes! Workspaces virtual offices provide you with a dedicated receptionist to field calls in your law firm’s name.

4) Extend your reach

When you tie yourself to a traditional office, you’re oftentimes limited by your geographic proximity to others. A virtual law office extends your reach as far as you desire. You will gain the potential to reach brand new client bases and collaborate with other law firms and professionals from across the country.

5) Work remotely

Leveraging a virtual law office allows you to work from any location you desire. Work from home and spend more time with your kids. Head down to your favorite coffee shop and work from there. The world is your oyster when you are not tied down to four walls and a roof, and you will save yourself a great deal of stress by avoiding the typical rush hour commute. Not only that, but most virtual offices—such as those offered by Yes! Workspaces—still provide you with a credible address for business communications and a professional, fully-equipped physical location to utilize when needed for important meetings and face-to-face interactions with clients.

6) Save the trees

A virtual law office is an environmentally friendly law office. Cloud-based technology allows you to practically eliminate your use of paper, and no commute means drastically cutting down your carbon footprint.

If your practice does not need a physical office for your day-to-day operations, Yes! Workspaces offers fully customizable, cloud-based virtual offices to suit your unique needs and budget. Give us a call today at (305) 260-7000 to learn more!

The natural and organic food retailer opened at 299 S.E. Third Street in downtown Miami with distinctly local features like a Miami’s Jugofresh eatery inside the 41,000-square-foot store.

The store’s other South Florida features include prepared items from Sushi Maki and South Beach Candle Company. The store opens daily at 7:30 a.m. and has a 140-space parking garage.
